Transitions UK

History

We were registered as a charity in January 2015 having formed earlier in 2014.

The Trustees are concerned to ensure Transitions UK makes a real and substantial contribution to the needs of this and future generations of young people in our society.

We have all worked with and supported charities and organisations that make a difference. We came together around the vision and mission of Transitions UK because we know we can make a real and lasting contribution to the plight of many vulnerable young people today.

Ron Overton and Greg Downing first talked about the vision for Transitions UK on a Charity Trek up to Everest base camp! We shared a common vision to make a significant difference to the lives of vulnerable young people across the UK. We also shared a concern for charities, especially smaller organisations, in challenging times of statutory funding withdrawal. The spectacular backdrop of the Himalayas helped keep the vision big and bright! As we developed our thinking and planning we were concerned to find other Trustees who would share those ambitions and help us to achieve them. We have a great founding team and we are excited about what the future holds.

Having spent much of this year raising desperately needed funds to make vision become reality we have just appointed Harriet Tamke as our Project Co-ordinator for our Luton Special Needs Transition Project and appointed Briony Holden as our Apprentice Marketing and Fundraising Officer. Welcome to the team!!

November 2015

Lift Off!! The Achieve project takes off in Luton and will support 30 young people with special needs and deploy 40 young volunteers.

We want this page to show a growing history of achievement, especially the achievements of the young people we support.

Watch this space then!
