Volunteering for Transitions has been amazing so far. It’s unbelieving how much satisfaction you get from making such an important contribution to someone’s life. Even so, I’ve always felt like I’ve received more than I’ve been able to give through the personal and professional development I’m getting from the work!

The different ways you can Volunteer

There's lots of different ways that you can Volunteer and support Transitions UK. The most common ones are below. Full training and induction is given and all expenses are payable. A satisfactory DBS check and references will be required.

Mentors and Befrienders

Come and work with the young people we help and support. You will be part of a ongoing support program and you need to be able to offer regular weekly support for at least a year. Depending upon the project that could be an hour or two each week to a 4 hour after schools club session.

You need to be willing to commit to staying involved with these young people for that period because we know that consistent ongoing support is key to developing trust and provides the platform for development. The service is relationally based and you’ll need to give time and commitment to make that work.

Ambassadors

We are keen to recruit people who will represent us in a particular area or region or who have particular contacts who can help us increase our funding, profile and opportunity.

We also want to recruit people who will represent us and the needs of vulnerable young people today within their own organisations. That might be a company or another youth organisation like scouts or guides etc. It might be within your church or faith group. It might be in local politics or in a school, college or elsewhere in the community.
