Our mission
We are here to change the lives and futures of vulnerable and disadvantaged young people across the UK. We aim to become a national charity with a national footprint and a national voice for young people.
In the current environment of Covid 19 and a growing recession, we are especially concerned to address the needs of what has been called a lost generation of young people. Many feel demoralised, disillusioned and disengaged from their community. There needs to be urgent and fundamental change to prevent the blighting of so many young lives.
Why we’re needed
Too many of our young people are in desperate need and nowhere near enough is being done. Many are losing hope.
Our young people need fundamental and far reaching support. These are formative years and if we fail them now, we are going to reap the consequence of that for generations.
Because we have highly impactful services and approaches that can make a huge difference
We want to provide support that shows what can be done and we want to challenge the structures and approaches that have especially failed those that most need help and support.
The consequences of inaction
Sadly here in the UK too little has been done too late. A few of the devastating consequences of our nation’s inaction are below.
Youth unemployment at 3 times the national average
Growing rates of self-harm (especially females) and suicide (especially males)
High teenage pregnancy rates
Depression, anxiety, mental health and emotional needs rising alarmingly
Crime, gang-involvement and violence is increasing
Those most vulnerable are largely unsupported and often failed by outdated structures and services
The reality for too many is a loss of hope and a huge loss of potential for our young people and for our society as a whole. If we don’t do something quickly it may be too late for too many, in this generation of young people.
