• Such a good time at “camp independence”

It was great to take a few of our young people camping with their support volunteers. Most of the young beneficiaries had never camped before – and neither had one or two volunteers. Weather was great and our young people gained so much from travelling independently to get there, planning menus and cooking (on a campfire!), learning about nature and the environment, sharing and communicating together etc. Lots of confidence building and so many great individual stories and outcomes!

We are definitely going to repeat this activity for all sorts of reasons – including the respite benefit to families as well as the development of our volunteers. Our special thanks to all our volunteers who generously gave up their time to support their friends – and to Jennifer Moore, our Project Manager, and Steve Townsend, our Activities Co-ordinator, for delivering such a fantastic experience and learning opportunity.
